Billericay schoolboy Sean Scales is the second Chelmsford City Youth under 10’s player to be selected to join a professional football academy this season. Sean who has played for Chelmsford City Youth since U8’s has recently joined Premiership Champions Chelsea F.C. following a successful trial period at Cobham. Since under 7’s Sean has played ‘Mini Soccer’ for Perry Street and Intersports before joining Chelmsford City Youth.

It was soon noted at Chelmsford that Sean’s energetic and graceful style of play made him a regular first choice as central midfielder and since joining he has helped Chelmsford pick up numerous tournament wins, trophies and medals as well as the coveted Managers Player of the Year last season. Sean was initially introduced to the Chelsea Academy set up in Cobham Surrey, through the P.A.S.S soccer school based in Chelmsford where he attended weekly training sessions for selected local boys.
Sean will now play his football against other Academy sides travelling to such teams as Arsenal, Norwich, Ipswich, West Ham, Millwall and Southampton. As mentioned before, for the second time this season the entire remaining City under 10 squad, parents and supporters wish Sean all the best in his Academy football future.
Chelmsford City Youth U10’s midfielder Nathan Fox has been offered the golden opportunity by Millwall Football Club to sign as an Academy Youth player following a recent trial.
Nathan aged 10 was spotted whilst playing for Chelmsford City Youth U9’s, and impressed Steve Birchmore, Millwall’s Assistant Head of Recruitment enough to be selected to attend weekly training sessions at ‘The Den’ the home of Millwall FC. Throughout a very intense but enjoyable trial period Nathan has played against Academy sides such as Ipswich Town, Chelsea, Watford, Crystal Palace and Arsenal and now after signing forms is looking to continue to play against other football league academy sides.
Nathan has worked extremely hard since under 7’s with Chelmsford City Youth to continually develop his football and now through professional training at Millwall is determined to do so even more. One negative is that as top scorer last season and regular in the City side for past three seasons he will be disappointed to be leaving all his team mates in such a successful Chelmsford City side, mid way through the season, that aside all the teams supporters, parents and players at Chelmsford City Youth U10’s wish Nathan all the best with his football future at Millwall Football Club
