CHELMSFORD CITY F.C ELITE U13s  3 : 1 BUCKHURST HILL
E.L.S PREMIER LEAGUE

City's last game of the season, and although nothing to play for, its always nice to bow out with a win, and in the first 10 minutes they proved to their supporters thats exactly what they wanted to do by putting title chasing Hill under constant pressure. In the 12th minute they got the opening, Jack Nicholls volleyed home from the edge of the area, 1-0. City kept up the pressure with Hill only getting the odd chance, firstly a snap shot that Jack Calvin the City goal keeper managed to keep out and then against the run of play Hill equilised, 1-1. Just before half time Sam Little sent in a long shot that see the Hill goal keeper diving and pushing round the post and out for a corner.
HT 1-1
The second half carried on the same as the first with City having the bulk of the play but Hill looking dangerous on the break and keeping the City defence on their toes. In the 9th minute City won a corner and as the ball was cleared Alex Bowring hit the ball low and hard and although it did get a slight deflection it some how managed to go through all of the players and into the net, 2-1. Mid way through the half Tyler Robinson crossed and found Sam Little to tap home 3-1.Hill went all out to get back into the game and title race but apart from one attempted lob that George Bass the City goal keeper easily plucked out of the air, there was never any danger, in fact it was City that finished with a number of corners.
FT 3-1
I'm sure that Ian Fox the City manager drove home that night with mixed emotions, sad as it was his last game, but happy to see the lads put in a top draw performance.

CHELMSFORD CITY F.C ELITE U13s 1 : 2  REDBRIDGE
E.L.S LEAGUE CUP - SEMI FINAL

City travelled to Buckhurst Hill (neutral ground) to play Redbridge in the league cup semi final on a nice sunny evening. Redbridge started the game with some nice passing and movement and an early shot at goal to test the goal keepr, however as the game wore on City got alot more of the ball unfortunately this section of the game only produced one more shot, which was from City that the Redbridge goalkeeper comfortably watched go just past the post. Then on 18 minutes the game livened up, a long throw down the left found Sam Little who crossed the ball into the six yard box to find James Thomas to head home, while he cooly re arranged his hair the claret army started celebrating. The rest of the half produced no corners and only a couple of week shots from both teams with City going in at half time with a goal to the good.
HT 1-0
City knew they would be put under pressure and apart from City winning the first corner of the game on 2 minutes the first 25 minutes found Redbridge being very dominant, Redbridge got the equaliser in the 7th minute, 1-1. Redbridge won a free kick on the edge of the box however as the ball looked goal bound, Nick Robinson plucked it out of the air. Then, in the 20th minute disaster struck with some lack of comminication at the heart of the City defence and appeals for a foul, the Redbridge striker found the ball at his feet and calmly stroked the ball into the net to go 1-2 up.For the last 10 minutes City pushed hard for a goal, and in the last minute forced two corners and one long throw that see all the claret and white shirts in or around the box but it was not to be.
FT 1-2
In the pitch beside Snaresbrook beat Buckhurst Hill 2.0 to set up a Redbridge v Snaresbrook final.

13TH December, 2009
CHELMSFORD CITYF.C ELITE U13s 1 : 1 TILBURY
E.L.S PREMIER LEAGUE

City with no games for a few weeks due to the weather welcomed Tilbury to Chelmsford who are currently sitting top of the ELS league.
City took the game to Tilbury from the start and in the first 10 minutes had the bulk of the possession and were making the Tilbury back five work hard. In the 11th minute they got their reward, Alex Bowring took a free kick that was flicked on by Charlie Mackinnon that found Jack Nicholls to chest the ball down and hit home with his right boot, 1-0. City remained on top for the rest of the half with the Tilbury goal keeper being the busier of the two and City being forced to make two substitutions due to ‘injury’.
HT 1-0
Tilbury came out in the second half with a completely different game plan and in the 3rd minute they equalised with a simple tap in, 1-1. City were limited to the odd break in the second half with Tilbury pushing for a winner, Tilbury hit the post and forced Jack Calvin into a great ‘reflex save’ but apart from that Tilbury although having a lot of the ball never really had any goal scoring chances, despite some ‘strange’ appeals from the side lines.
FT 1-1
Over the 70 minutes, a fair result. City had Tilbury on the back foot in the first half and although very much on the back foot themselves in the second the spirit and fight shown by the lads in claret deserved a 10 out of 10.

30TH August, 2009
CHERRY HINTON 11 A SIDE TOURNA MENT

Chelmsford City had played some very testing friendlies so this was a good chance to put all that we had learnt into practice and try to defend our title in Cambridgeshire – Yet again due to the weather having an impact it was going to be  a chance for City to again learn to defend against the long ball.
GROUP – MILTON COLTS – DREW – 0 : 0  By the games we had witnessed before our first game, the general view was that this was the team to beat, last season they had won their local league and cup double, a very attacking outfit moving from a 442 to a 424 very quickly, however they hadn’t bargained for a team like City to appear. City had no real problems, had the bulk of the possession and forced their goal keeper into a number of saves but a goal never came.
GROUP – LUTON YOUTH – WON – 1 : 0 A big physical team, but it was not a match for City as the passing was causing all sorts of problems for the Luton defence. A nice lay off from Tom Macdavid see Jack Nicholls score the deciding goal.
GROUP – CHERRY HINTON LIONS – WON – 2 : 0 The hosts did not really get any chances at all with City really pilling on the pressure, Chris Wright got goal number one with a stunning strike from distance and James Thomas doubled the lead to see City worthy winners.
GROUP – WITHERSFIELD – WON – 1 : 0 Another team that had won their local league, a small but very good footballing side. Jack Nicholls got the crucial goal to see them advance into the semi’s by running the ball from the defence, playing a 1 2 with James Thomas and bang 1-0.
SEMI FINAL – WITHERSFIELD – WON – 2:1 City had won this tie in the group, and within the first few minutes it looked as though they would repeat it with some nice passing play involving, Chris Wright, Freddie Bartram, Tyler Bolton and finally James Thomas who hit the net to make it 1-0. However, Withersfield were not going to give up and found City ‘napping’ at the back to pull the score back to 1-1. James Thomas restored the lead to 2-1 before Jack Calvin the City goal keeper made a great one on one save to see City progress to the final.
FINAL – MILTON – WON – 2 : 0  Milton were a good team putting City under pressure however City had a lot more possession, forcing a number of saves from the Milton goal keeper and winning  numerous corners. At half time City went in with a deserved 2-0 lead thanks to both goals from Jack Nicholls, one involving some neat passing play the second using his pace to beat off a couple of defenders and slot the ball past the advancing goal keeper. City needed to keep it tight in the second half, which they did very well, but credit to all of them they kept Milton on the back foot searching for a third goal, but that was not to come and City ended up winning the game and when Alex Bowring lifted the trophy I think everybody would of agreed they were worthy winners.
This was a great work out for the players, looking comfortable in all six games and playing some really good football – well played lads.
